USH-51 Resurfacing

7/28/2025

The City of Portage is happy to announce that the DOT will be completing Phase 1 of the USH-51 Resurfacing project on Tuesday 7/29/2025. A portion of USH-51/Wisconsin Street (from Edgewater to STH-33/Cook Street), will be open to traffic sometime tomorrow afternoon (7/29/2025). This will include the intersection of USH-51/Wisconsin Street and STH-33/Cook Street. Detour signage associated with this closure will be removed accordingly. The remaining portion of USH-51/Wisconsin Street (from Cook Street to Pleasant Street), will remain closed through Phase 2, which is expected to be complete in mid-August.

Additionally, in order to accommodate paving in Phase 2, the DOT and its contractor will be closing an additional section of USH-51/Wisconsin Street (from Pleasant Street to MacFarlane Road), on Thursday 7/31/2025 and Friday 8/1/2025. Traffic will not be permitted on this segment of roadway during paving operations along with the already closed portions from STH-33/Cook Street to Pleasant. The DOT and its contractor will have all appropriate traffic control in place for this additional closure.
