Water Outage 5/19 (USH-51 Reconstruction)

In association with the USH-51 (W. Wisconsin Street), Reconstruction project, the City of Portage will be shutting the water off along segments of W. Wisconsin Street and W. Conant Street between the hours of 8:00AM and 4:30PM on Monday, May 19th, 2025. Customers whose water services fall along the below roadway segments will not have water during these shutdown periods. Affected properties have been notified via door hangers.

The City’s contractor will be performing an emergency water main repair in the intersection of Cook Street and Wisconsin Street today, Monday, May 12th, 2025. Customers whose water services fall along the below roadways will potentially not have water during the time of repair which is expected to last into this evening/night. We apologize for any inconveniences during this timeframe.
USH-51 Reconstruction

Reminder, the City of Portage will be reconstructing W. Wisconsin Street, from Pleasant Street to W. Edgewater Street over the next few months. Beginning May 5th, 2025, the roadway of W. Wisconsin Street will be closed from Pleasant to Edgewater.
USH-51 Reconstruction

The City of Portage will be reconstructing USH-51 (W. Wisconsin Street), from W. Pleasant Street to W. Edgewater Street beginning on May 5th, 2025. Work will include installation of all new utilities along this roadway and is expected to be completed in late July. Following the City’s reconstruction, the Wisconsin Department of Transportation will be performing asphalt resurfacing on the same segment of roadway with an anticipated completion date in late August.
Flushing Notice

This week the Portage Water Utility began their annual fall flushing of hydrants. This work will continue through mid-May. During this period, you may experience some discoloration in your water as a result of the flushing. If this happens, simply run your faucet with cold water until the water clears.

New Garage - Open House

The City of Portage will be hosting an Open House Event at the new Public Works/Parks & Rec. Building, located at 401 Cemetery Road, from 10:00AM-12:00PM on Saturday, March 29th. This event will be open to the public. The City will offer guided tours of the new facility throughout the event.

The Portage Utility Department will be performing an emergency water main repair on the northern segment of Lennon Street today, Thursday, February 27th. In order to isolate the water main for repair, the water main will be turned off on Lennon Street beginning at 8:30AM from W. Slifer Street to the north dead end. Customers whose water services fall along this segment of roadway will not have water during the period of work which we are hopeful to be completed by close of business today. We apologize for any inconveniences during this timeframe.
